The Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for managing both the forward-looking, citizen empowered planning process and the customer service oriented application of existing zoning regulations.
Each building and sign permit application is first reviewed for compliance with the Zoning Code. The Town of Smyrna is comprised of several specific zones. Permitted uses and restrictions are detailed within the District regulations and Supplemental Regulations section of the Zoning Code. A variance, special exception or conditional use may be granted by the Board of Adjustment. The deadline for applications to the Board is the date of the meeting that is a month prior to your hearing. The Board of Adjustment meets monthly, or as needed, on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Fees apply.
