Yard Waste Collection

2021 Yard Waste program

Starting Monday April 5th

The town recently acquired a rear-loading trash truck to improved collections and will repurpose the previous blue and yellow recycling bins for a more efficient yard waste program. Only yard waste in a rigid container will be collected by the town. There are two (2) ways to request a bin. You can use our online submission form or request one from Jennifer in Public Works. If you email her, please use the subject line: residential yard waste bin request.
Already own a container? Great! You can use your personal container as long as it has a solid metal bar on the front for collection tipping and does not exceed 96-gallons. Please let Jennifer know that you will be using your personal bin. Yard Waste decals are available at Town Hall, our Public Works facility, and our Planning, Zoning, and Inspections building, at no cost and will be available throughout the season. This decal must be applied to the container for it to be collected.

To avoid duplication, please use only ONE option. Also, due to the high volume of requests, please allow for a 24-48 hour confirmation notification.

The yard waste schedule will remain the same and can be viewed below, along with a development and road list, and a map. You do not need to call in to request a pick up.

Please note: yard waste collection is limited to residential homes that receive trash/recycling collection.

Q&A:

1. What is the yard waste program?
The program is to help residents maintain their yards on a small scale; like the removal of grass clippings, trimmings, small fallen twigs/branches.
This is not to supplement services like tree removal or major tree trimming.

2. Do I really need a container?
Yes. We have purchased a rear loader. This will help provide better service, as well as help our employees.

3. Can I leave yard waste outside of the container?
No. Everything has to be in the container for collection.

You can use biodegradable bags if needed, and then place the yard waste in the container.

4. How often is yard waste collected?
Collection is weekly, Monday-Wednesday (excluding holidays), from early Spring to mid-Fall.
The town is split into three (3) districts and the schedule and map can be viewed above.

5. Are all residents eligible for collection?
No. Yard waste collection is limited to residential homes where trash/recycling is also charged.
