The current trash and recycling collector is Waste Industries.
Waste Industries provides 2 containers: 1 – 65gal charcoal gray trash bin and 1 – 65gal blue and yellow recycling bin
For new construction, containers need to be requested in office or over the phone and they will be delivered by Waste Industries on Thursdays.
Trash collection is Tuesdays. Trucks are in town between 6am and 6pm. All trash containers must be at curbside prior to 6am Tuesday morning or after 4:30pm Monday afternoon.
Recycling collection is Fridays. Trucks are in town between 6am and 6pm. All recycling containers must be at curbside prior or 6am Friday morning, or after 4:30pm Thursday afternoon.
If you see the trash/recycling truck in your area and you rush out to put out your trash/recycling bin, the driver is not obligated to wait or turn back around. They are on a time limit and have hundreds of more containers to pick up. If this occurs, your container will be picked up on the next scheduled pick up as long as you follow the time guidelines of prior to 6am the pick up day, or 4:30p the day before.
If you have followed the guidelines and your trash or recycling is missed, you can call the business office or submit a form electronically on our website.
No trash or recycling will be collected on the following major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
If a collection day falls on one of these holidays, pickup will be shifted one day; i.e. July 4th is on Thursday, recycling will be Saturday instead of Friday. Memorial Day is on Monday, trash is Wednesday, recycling is Saturday.
Commercial/business customers who would rather have their trash and recycling contracted out and not be charged our monthly fee will need to provide a copy of their trash contract.
Waste Industries’ drivers are not required to pick up trash that has been scattered by animals or wind. A few drops of ammonia will keep animals from tearing open containers.
Large, bulk items will be collected along with regular trash. These items must be called into town hall on the Friday or Monday before a pick up. Bulk items include but are not limited to: stoves, furniture, washers, dryers, toys, etc.
This is not available for contracted out accounts; i.e. commercial or accounts that are not charged trash – apartment complexes.
Not considered bulk and will not be picked up by Waste Industries includes but not limited: waste materials from home construction/demolition/repairs, hazardous waste, tires, combustible compounds, paint, oil, gas, abandoned cars, etc.
Freon needs to be removed from refrigerators and freezers. State law requires the doors be removed or taped/tied shut.
Carpet and carpet padding must be cut into lengths less than four feet and securely tied, weighing less than 50 pounds each.
Wood, such as that for decking and porches, can be taken as long as the nails are removed.
If bulk is called in the day of trash pick up, there is a good chance it will be taken the following trash collection day. Waste Industries provides a certain amount of trash and bulk item trucks for each Tuesday.
If the guidelines are followed and your bulk is missed, you can call the business office or submit a form electronically on our website.
Yard Waste, i.e. branches, bags of grass, leaves, etc, is not picked up by Waste Industries.
If yard waste is mixed in with trash or recycling the drive will not take it. You will have to separate the trash or recycling from the yard waste before it will be picked up. Once they are separated, call into the business office so we can inform Waste Industries that the container is no longer contaminated.
Depending on the time of day, your container may be scheduled for an off day pick up due to the contamination.
Please read the (town ordinance) for more detail information.
