Recycle Red Program

The Town has a new recycling campaign: Recycle Smyrna Red For Our Future.

Kick off began on Wednesday April 14, 2021 with the hopes that with enough recyclables, like those of #1 and #2 plastics, we can purchase two (2) red benches and three (3) red wheelchair accessible picnic tables for our parks from Eco Plastics.

The initial drop off event will be on Thursday April 22, 2021, behind Town Hall, 27 S. Market St.

After that, bags of recyclables can be dropped off at Town Hall during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. These recyclables will be collected by Public Works on a daily basis and sorted through weekly. Once there is a decent weight amount, the recyclables will be delivered to Eco Plastic.

We need to collect enough recyclables to match the weight of the items we would like to purchase. One (1) park bench weighs 127 pounds and one (1) wheelchair accessible picnic table weighs 230 pounds. In total we would like to collect 944 pounds of recyclables.

If there are any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to our wonderful councilwomen who set this campaign in motion, Valerie Forbes (302-423-6516) and/or Tabitha Gott (302-750-5606).

Also, check out Eco Plastics and see how their amazing organization is helping to reduce plastic waste through the creation of benches, tables, golf accessories, sandboxes, and more.
