Anyone applying for a new electric service in Smyrna is required to purchase a remote disconnect collar for the electric meter if one is not already installed. Landlords are responsible for purchasing a remote disconnect collar for each of their rental units.
Any customer that has been disconnected twice for non-payment in a three-year period and whose unit does not have a remote disconnect collar, shall purchase a remote disconnect collar before electric service is restored.
This device will be installed and tested by the Town crews. The remote disconnect collar will enable the Town to disconnect/reconnect the electric service remotely. In emergency situations this will greatly decrease the time involved to restore or disconnect service.
