The Smyrna Public Library may be small, but it's mighty. The library continues to grow in book selections, programs, and computer technology, while still maintaining its historic charm.
The library is open to the public and located at its original location on the corner of South Street and South Main Street. There is handicapped and public parking in the back entrance and in the new library parking lot. Additionally, a 24-hour book return is located near the back door entrance for your convenience.
The main floor holds more than 22,000 circulating items, from books, e-books, magazines, to DVD'sand audio CD's. The library also has reference items including a wide variety of magazines and newspapers, as well as several computers, wireless access, and a homeschool section.
Although books still bring more people to the library than anything else, computers are the second biggest draw especially since the library has wireless accessibility.
Children come to the library after school to use the computers for homework and online research and reference. Patrons that are unfamiliar with the technology should not be afraid to ask for assistance.
In addition to the internet-accessible computers, the library also has an AWE computer in the children's room that does not access the internet, and two machines for card catalog searches. One 15-minute internet computer for checking emails or quick searches.
