Code Purple men's shelter opening soon!

Code Purple

The Code Purple men’s shelter will once again be operating out of the Centennial United Methodist Church located at 44 E. Mt. Vernon Street. The site is scheduled to open December 1st as long as temperatures are less than 32 degrees.

Donations of items will help the shelter to continue running smoothly.  Items needed include:

  • boots
  • long johns
  • bus passes
  • individually packaged snacks
  • fruits
  • cases of water
  • coffee
  • creamer
  • cans of soup or pasta meals
  • peanut butter
  • tuna fish
  • things to pack lunches with

There is also a need for volunteers.  Please contact Donna Carroll at (302) 559-4072, Pat Hennighan at (302) 724-0844, or Rev. Rudolph White at (302) 632-8065 if you have any questions about donations or volunteering.


Anyone seeing a need for help is encouraged to call the Code Purple hotline at (800) 733-6816.  The hotline is updated daily and messages taken at the end of the recording are monitored 24/7.
