Recycling Facility Closed @ DHCI

With the closing of the recycling facility located at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill (DHCI), residents having been asking where they can still take their recycling.

The two closest locations are listed below:

2016 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)

On May 16th, the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, released the approved funding allocations for the annual formula based Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for the FY2016 Local Solicitation.

The Dover Police Department was listed as a disparate entity along with the Smyrna Police Department and Kent County, Delaware. The total amount awarded this year is $59,961.

Notice Regarding Building Permits & Inspections

Due to the increased volume of building permits and inspections, beginning June 15, 2016 the Building and Inspections Department for the Town of Smyrna will no longer schedule specific times for inspections.

Inspections will be scheduled on a first come first served basis.

Prior to scheduling a Framing Inspection the following MUST be complete:
• Must be weather-tight
• Air seal must be complete
