FREE Scrap Tire Drop-Off Day

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control's (DNREC) Scrap Tire Management Program is pleased to announce an opportunity for residents of Delaware to drop off up to ten (10) scrap tires.

There is no cost to the resident for this event. Collected scrap tires will be recycled.

Annual Fall Clean-Up

In an effort to assist residents in cleaning and maintaining their properties, Smyrna will have its Annual Fall Clean-up from September 29 through October 3, 2014.

Request for Proposal for Debt Collection Services

The Town of Smyrna is accepting proposals for Debt Collection Services. Specifications are available for download from our website or copies are available at Town Hall, 27 S. Market Street Plaza, Smyrna, Delaware between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM weekdays.

Sealed proposals will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014 at which time they will be publicly opened and read. Envelopes must be clearly marked “Sealed Bid – Debt Collection Services Proposal”.

Leaf Collections

Beginning October 16, 2014, Town crews will be operating our leaf machine on a regular basis. Beginning that date and through December 31, 2014, leaves may be raked to the curbside for pick up.

Hydrant Flushing & Flow Testing

The Town of Smyrna Water Department personnel will be flushing and flow testing fire hydrants between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM on October 14, 15, and 16, 2014 weather permitting.

In case of inclement weather, the flushing will be postponed until October 21, 22, and 23, 2014. This is necessary to purge our water system and to provide quality water to our residents.

Alarm Registration

Law Enforcement personnel respond to thousands of false alarm calls yearly. These unnecessary responses result in an enormous burden in manpower and expense; which in turn reduces the time available to respond to real emergencies.

The Smyrna Police Department encourages all home owners and businesses with alarms to comply with the state law, Title 24, Chapter 12. Failure to do so could result in a civil fine by the State of Delaware.

Commerce Street Utility Replacement Project

Commerce Street

The Town of Smyrna has contracted with Lindstrom Excavating Contractors, Inc. for the Commerce Street Utility Replacement Project. This work will be done during night time hours from 7:00 PM until 5:00 Am.
