2015 At A Glance
Smyrna Police Dept. by the numbers
The year 2015 was certainly a busy year for members of the Smyrna Police Department. We often get asked questions like how busy is the SPD? What types of incidents do your officers handle most often? In an effort to answer these questions and to show you the public just what it is we do day in and day out, we have compiled some of our 2015 statistics. While this is just a snapshot of some of our calls for service, we feel it provides a good look into the great work our Officers do day in and day out.
In 2015, our full time dispatch center answered 22,115 telephone calls. An impressive number when you consider that we only employ 5 full time dispatchers. SPD handled 18,431 total calls for service. This was an increase of 10% from 2014. As you can see from the table below, we certainly kept busy answering calls for service and also self-initiating crime reduction (which is not necessarily reflected in the table below). Overall we hope that our public we serve feels as confident as we do in saying that we did a great job in 2015. We promise to keep working hard and expanding on our efforts to make Smyrna a safer place to live and visit!
