New Customers

General Information


Bills are due upon receipt. Late charges will be assessed to any account not paid in full by 4:30 p.m. on the 20th of each month. If the 20th falls on a weekend and/or holiday, payment must be received in our office no later than 4:30 p.m. or online by 3 p.m. on the next regularly scheduled business day.

The drop box in front of Town Hall is emptied Monday through Friday promptly at 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.. Any payments put in the box after 4:30 p.m. on the 20th (or the next scheduled business day if the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday) are considered late and will be assessed penalties.

Effective March 1, 2009, the utility late fee will be 10% of the unpaid account balance. To avoid being disconnected for nonpayment, customers may request an extension until the end of the month. Extensions are subject to approval. Late fees will continue to accrue on the account. The town also offers Budget Billing throughout the year to qualifying customers.

Signing Up for Service


To sign up for utility services, residential customers must complete an Application for Utility Service.  Business or Builders must complete an Application for Business Services.  There is a non-refundable application fee. Customers are also required to pay a deposit when signing up for service. The deposit amount is based on the type of heat. See our rate sheet for the current amount of deposit for gas heat and the deposit for electric heat. For new businesses, please contact the Business Office for deposit amount.

Note: We request that customers arrive at Town Hall prior to 4 p.m. in order to sign up for services.

Payment Information


The town offers Direct Debit for utility payments. We also offer online payments for a fee. Online payment convenience fees are as follows:
  • ACH - $1
  • Credit Card's (utility bills) - $4.95
  • Credit Cards (tax bills) - 3%

Miscellaneous Information

For customers who may be watering lawns, washing vehicles, or using large amounts of water, a second water meter may be purchased at Town Hall (please call for a price). Once the meter has been installed and calibrated, customers would only be charged for water usage only.

Going on vacation? Contact the Business Office to make arrangements for payment of your utility bill while you are out-of-town.
